Aquaculture Plastic Pump Strainers
MAT RAS manufactures its own pump strainer for RAS (Recirculating Aquaculture Systems) and Life Support Systems (LSS) to provide efficient flow rate without cavitation while at the same time it extends the pump’s lifetime. Years of experience has proven the fact that companies in the business are in need of strainers for the protection of pumps, compressors, turbines, meters, automatic valves and other pipeline equipment.
The Plastic Aquaculture Strainers are a specially designed and manufactured product to serve in harsh and corrosive conditions. They have the ideal fabrication material for acidic and corrosive liquids. They offer protection to pumps and to the various elements of an installation, with minimized maintenance needs thanks to quick open cover for cleaning. The Aquaculture Strainer serves as a protection filter for the pump, the pipeline and the rest elements of a piping installation from suspended particles.
Strainer Material & Manufacturing
MAT Strainers can be manufactured in either Polyethylene, Polypropylene or Stainless Steel. The aquaculture Strainer mesh size is 5mm and the material used is HDPE for Strainer body and SS316 and acrylic for the cover quick open/close mechanism. HDPE is selected especially to be utilized thanks to its corrosion resistant features and its higher strength to density ratio.
Due to the wide rage of commercial pumps larger than 800 m³/h flow rate, MAT Strainers are being manufactured in a large range of sizes from 10 m³ to 1000 m³ as well as custom made for your specific requirements.
Application in Aquaculture
Suspended particles, debris, etc can contaminate water and when remaining unfiltered they may not only clog the pipes but also they can cause serious problems in the pumps and rest elements of a piping system.
The Plastic Strainers find application to piping systems in Life Support Systems for Aquariums, in Recirculated Aquaculture Systems, and in Pool applications. They are installed at the pump suction side, before pump inlet connection where water enters and is pre-filtered while flowing through the strainer cartridge inside the strainer holder.
